Please excuse my pictures.
The pictures to the right were not taken professionally and appear to have
some yellowing that does not exist in real life. These SE-10's on Brochure CoverAuction for Black SE-10 (NOW AVAILABLE)
Auction for White SE-10 (NOW AVAILABLE)
Auction for First SE-10 (NOW AVAILABLE)
I've decided, again, to let these three original cues
go: I was going to sell these cues once before but did not get the
prices I required for them. Recent personal health issues have led me to
sell most of my possessions to pay doctors bills etc. Depending on
responses on forum etc, I will likely be putting these on ebay
auction around Auction Now up! 12/17- 12/22 to Before that point I may be
reached at bmeucci@gmail.com to
answer questions and take initial bids.
The SE-10 or SEX
cue: The most popular Meucci design of all time, the SE-10 was
cancelled early theoretically because initial pricing was considered too
low for the work required to manufacture them.
What are
they?: Two of them are the original prototypes for the
SE-10 designed by myself, Bobby Meucci. These are the actual cues that are
in all the photos of SE-10s in Meucci promotional materials. This includes
the '03 Brochure. Though it is hard to make out the number, it is actually
600 but the the transparency for the brochure is backwards so it
looks a little like 006. The third is the first trial prototype ever
created.
What is different on these Two?: As you guessed,
these are numbered a red 599 and 600 as seen in all the photos. The
black one differs from all other SE-10s because it is made with a
semiprecious stone called "Goldstone". The reflection of the goldstone
actually causes the casting material to look more gold colored in pictures
than in real life. Becuase of manufacturing concerns, this cue marks the
end of using semiprecious stone castings in Meucci Cues. Additional
differences you can notice are the filigree patterns in the forearm are
different than production models and these cues, like some of their lower
numbered counterparts have a different inlay process used to create the
design on the lower end of the butt. The main design piece was inlaid in
two halves originally. After discovering some difficulties in the
manufacturing process I later changed the design to a three piece
process.
What is this third one?: The third offering that is
on auction is the first prototype for the SE-10 ever made. Most of these
first-run prototypes never make it to completion before they are scrapped
and re-worked but in this specific case there was a BCA trade show that
was going at the time of its design so we had it completed in hopes to
show it at the trade show. The design was rejected however and was never
seen by the public. One of the most obvious differences is the filigree
work found in the forearm. Blue mirror strips were used in the prototypes
as well and I believe these later became veneer instead. This cue bears my
personal signature as the designer and text verifying it's authenticity as
the first prototype. This cue has no number.
Their Story: To
make it at brief as possible, basically, I have had a great deal of input
on many cues but this was the only cue that I designed entirely. Some of
the other cues I've had input on include all of the cues that contain
semi-precious stones. I created the manufacturing process that made all
these cues possible. The SE-10 however, was entirely my baby. The
text on the original flyer is somewhat misleading as to my role of this
cue's design. For advertising reasons my role was down-played because
my input on previous cue designs was unknown to the public and the
fact that I was the designer instead of my father was considered possibly
detrimental to this cue's saleability. Accordingly, these three cues are 3
of the four cues in existance that I have signed my name to. There is one
other SE-10 I signed for a friend but that is all. They have my personal
(to friends) signature and writing showing their authenticity. I no longer
work with my father or Meucci in any way so it is unlikely I will have
much to do with any further designs etc.
